Modern dredgers require highly reliable, efficient, proven, medium-speed engines that comply with all modern emission legislation when sailing in environmentally sensitive areas. Our four-stroke engine portfolio includes several units whose engine envelope is optimised for the reduced rpm experienced during dredger pump operation.
MAN Diesel & Turbo offers a wide range of highly efficient and reliable common-rail engines for powering dredgers. Common-rail technology allows the independent setting of injection timing, duration and pressure for each cylinder. This flexibility allows the optimisation of fuel consumption, NOx and smoke emissions at any point on an engine’s operating profile, especially at part-load.
Our engine solutions offer a high degree of redundancy, whether diesel-electric or mechanical propulsion plants.
For engines running on HFO, we offer exhaust-gas-cleaning systems such as SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) to minimize NOx to meet IMO Tier III regulations.
MAN Diesel & Turbo supplies complete generating sets to secure reliable and economical power generation and distribution. Modern auxiliary engines run on the same high-viscosity fuel grades as the main engines to maximize economy. Overall installation costs can be minimised by using compact modular fuel treatment systems, available in standard sizes.
